Anybody out there in steel land know who the steel player was on the Louis Jordan cut of Barnyard Boogie? It was cut in NY in 1947 I believe. I don't think the extensive liner notes in the Bear Family box credits a steel player.

A band I played in a few years ago covered that song. I believe that the steel player on the original recording was Carl Hogan, an electric guitarist who was featured on many of Louis Jordan's recordings around that time. The steel solo is very rudimentary, basically just one grip and a doo-wa, but it adds some "barnyard" character to this novelty tune.
