I'v been taking a close look at the Carter. These guitars having this BCT BODY CONTACT TECHNOLOGY has got to be great the way everyone always talked about the Old Pushpulls changer contacting the body and having killer tone. In the last year to two years they started putting a extra heav duty pedal bar on them seems like a great idea also. I just found out you can get a neck that looks more like the neck on lots of other steels. This seems like some very nice features and i am looking close, So look out. I dont want any negative feed back. If you like this also, Thats fine and if you dont just keep it to yourself. I'm just letting you know my thoughts. I also liked my MSA SS i plaed for 20 years and i have told people for years that i think if it has Bud's name on it, It cant be TOOOOO Bad. So thanks for any positive feed back. I have to say i have had several guitars that seemed to be pretty decent.

Thanks.
Gary.

Gary, I totally agree with you. Anything with Bud Carter's name underneath is a good product. Many people think more expensive is good. That isn't the case at all. Carters have most of the parts machined out from other establishments and in so can keep their prices lower than the rest, and no long waits for a new guitar. I personally like the original low profile neck on my guitar, and original pedal rack. Many many Pro players use Carter's. I had some personal e'mails with the great Tommy White, and he told me why he played a Carter....because it was a great guitar. Yes he has gone on to "another" brand now, as "some" of us do from time to time. This doesn't mean anything derogative to the Carter he played. Even the great Mr Emmons has played practically everything that was produced, and now doesn't even play the guitar with his own name on it. It's just his choice, and no reflection on Emmon's guitars. I quote another great player Ted Solesky from Mineral Wells Texas who in a way is an unsung hero in the steel world, he plays a Carter and stands firm by them. Yes getting back to your thread here, Carters make a good product, as good as any of the steels out there.I've had mine for 5 years now with many many gigs under my belt with her, and no problems at all. Pedal and knee action is superb, holds it's tuning impeccably, sounds good....what else does one need??? Smile

Going on 2 years now since I got my Carter and I absolutely love it! I agree with what Micky Byrne said: "Pedal and knee action is superb, holds it's tuning impeccably, sounds good....what else does one need???"

Gary I will have to agree with you today.

Yes Carter is a good brand, one thing that I do like is that you get a great quality guitar and you don't have to what up to 2 years, I think that is silly, but it happens.

I got my D10 Carter new about a year ago and my only regret is that I wish I would have had it sooner.

I also wish I would have had alot more "stuff" added on, however with the carter to me it seems very easy to add things on.

Gary, I don't see how you can go wrong with the Carter. It is always brought up in discussions about the top steels available today independent of price....and most are excellent today. For the price it is definitely hard to beat!! I bought a Carter D-10 at St Louis last year after playing most of the brands shown there. I am still thrilled with the guitar as it plays like butter and sounds every bit as good as my PP....growl and bottom end included. Good luck..Jim

I dont think most people realize how they perform.
That changer and the heavy duty pedal bar should make it like a tank as far as being solid.
I'll probably have one real shortly. And also you can get one of two Necks. You cant knockany until you try E'm.

I changed my steel for a new D10 Carter on a few months. As A.J. my only regret is that I should have changed earlier.

Gary,
That's really true ...Gary has owned a BUNCH of steels....Heck, if I were Rains, I would use Gary's words as a selling point .....

Gary Steel played our pedal steel for 15 mos. ....

That's all they would have to say !!....That says MILLIONS !!!.... Laughing .....Jim

Gary,
At the VERY LEAST , they should give you a pedal steel. ....Any company that knows that you have a competitors brand in your possesion for more than a month , should be trembling in their boots !! ....When I saw that you kept a Rains for 15 months, I thought it was a typo !!.... That CLEARLY has to be a record for you !!..... God bless you !!...It's always good to hear from you !!!....Too bad Rains doesn't make a U-12 ...I've already asked !!.... I've swapped around a few steels in my time, but you are the king !!!....Keep up the good work !!...I'm always looking to see what steel you will be playing next ....You should write a Pedal Steel book complete with pictures of all the Steels you've owned !!...I'd buy it !!!.... Laughing ...Sincerely, Jim
