I agree with Steve - Dick Curless with Weldon on steel. |

...I was gonna say Chalker(because he fooled me so many times on E9 and he DID do some stuff with Curless)but I'm sticking with Weldon and Curless... _________________ http://www.myspace.com/stevehinsonnashville |

And you are right, Steve! The track comes from Dick Curless' 1973 album "The Last Blues Song". He has always been among my favorite vocalists.

I was thinking Stu Phillips, but I couldn't identify the steel player so I didn't answer. Just as well cause I'd been wrong. |

Amen, Steve and Walter. Dick is one of my absolute favorites, and his stuff isn't all that easy to find on vinyl. When he reached down into that low baritone, his voice was completely unique and tremendous. |

Steve and Dave,
All of his material is available. Bear Family has two box sets (7 and 4 CDs), starting with his earliest recordings, his complete Tower and Capitol material, incl. the "Live at Wheeling Truck Driver Jamboree" album (with Curly Chalker on steel and Buzz Evans on Lead Guitar). The box sets have already been issued several years ago, but I think they are still available.
Check them out at www.bear-family.de

Great way to start off the week!
It sounds very close to the things Weldon did on the Moe Bandy records. |
