Which pocket amp / headphone amp is suitable for steel? I need also an aux input for Rh tracks.
I have tried different standard guitar amps. They all sound thin.
I'm shure this topic has been covered already. Thnx for related threads. |

Do you actually mean something that can go in your pocket ?
The Boss Micro BR is a great little tool, serves all sorts of purposes once you get familiar with it;
Private practice amp thru headphones
4 track recorder
drum programs
effects unit
MP3 player
MP3 recorder
Live show recording
mastering tools
2 AA batteries
about $200
You will have to edit some of the programs into the USER group for the Steel, there are many many programs and all can be edited very nicely.Keep in mind that this is a GUITAR players gadget out of the box..Take on of the on board programs ,edit the settings close to what your Steel amp settings are and you will be well pleased.
warning , it's small, the buttons are small, and you can loose it under a pile of papers !
Oh, and it can fit in your pocket

I've a Boss micro BR for some time, but never thought to use it as a silent practice tool. I did the other day thanks to Tony's post, and it works great. Now I can sit on the couch in front of the idiotbox and practice the 6stringer. And to think I was looking into a pocket amp.  |

Have you tried the Line 6 Pocket Pod? A friend of mine just got one and uses it to practice 6 string on the couch as not to disturb the lady of the house. You can edit the presets and completely customize them to your liking by hooking up a USB cable and using the editing software on your computer(I think it is included). Also has a headphone out, and a CD/MP3 in.

For around $130 US, it doesn't seem like that bad of a deal.

I've been using the Korg Pandora PX4, and it works well enough. It was a tiny bit more $ than the Line Pocket Pod, but it has a metronome, plus drum patterns. I can make my Sho Bud sound decent through it, for sure. It also has a line-in, and you can transpose the playback, which is great!
My only complaint: it's a bit hissy. |
