Dear all,

Are National Tricones suitable for lap slide playing? I was just blown away by the sound of Bob Brozman's sample of the Style 1 baritone Tricone at the National Resophonic website. It sounds fantastic!

Is there a squareneck version of the baritone Tricone? Or would it work fine to use an extension nut?

And what is the difference between the Style 1 and Polychrome baritones, apart from the price?

There are just too many great instruments out there!

Thanks!

Fred

National tricones are definitely suitable for lap style playing. I own a Style 1.5 tricone and it's great. The Polychrome models have a steel body while the Style 1 has a brass body. You should get a copy of National's catalog to hear the differences.

I have no direct experience with National's baritone tricone guitars. I'm sure they'd be happy to build you a squareneck version if you wanted one. They say on their web site that "All Tricones are available as either standard neck or square neck models".

Thanks Brad!

Do you know if the entire track, that the 30 second Bob Brozman baritone Tricone Style 1 sample on the website is taken from, is included on the National Resophonic catalogue CD?

(...or "catalog", in US spelling - I'm Swedish, how am I supposed to spell things on an international forum?! )

I would love to hear the rest of that track! Is it bottleneck or lap slide he plays on it? My beginner's ears cannot tell for sure.

Sorry, Fred. I'm sure National Reso-Phonic Guitars knows the answer, but I don't.
