Forgive me if this process is super easy but I can't seem to figure it out. I want to save streaming audio to my hard drive so I downloaded Sound Forge. I can play the streaming files in Windows Media Player but can't figure out how to record it through Sound Forge. I'm sure it's not too hard but can anyone help me out with this? Thanks much!!

Adam, Open SF and select file/new, make sure that windows input mixer is set to Wave to mix, adjust the recording volume so that it's not over recording .
back to SF and press the little circle near the left side of the top tool bar, when finished stop recording and save as mp3 or what ever you need

If you have one of the newer Dell's with the integrated audio (SigmaTel) there is no option for recording streaming audio (no "what you hear" or "system mixer"). I have no idea why Dell didn't implement that but it's a big issue on the Dell users forum.

Thanks for the responses guys. My computer is older and not a Dell. Maybe I'm doing it wrong..I'm playing the streaming in Windows Media Player and then I go to Sound Forge and press record. It appears to be recording but when I play the file back there is no sound. Would you be able to tell me how I'd get to my windows input mixer to change that setting? That's probably my problem..unless I'm doing it all wrong....

Start/ control panel/ sound audio devices/ audio/ recording / select wave out mix, adjust the volume.
You must press arm in the window that opens in SF to record....

To record streaming audio with SF you have to set your sound card input to stereo mix, not wave.

OK, sorry guys still not getting it..my computer doesn't give me the option to select wave out mix when I do that and I can't seem to find anywhere how to change my sound card input. Any ideas?

If you are running xp, in the lower right side of the screen doubleclick the speaker icon, recording and playback properties will showup. Go to the recording properties and you will find it. If you are using Vista then you are on your own as I know nothing about it.

With Vista, simply right click on that same speaker icon to view the recording & playback devices
