I have never posted to the Steel without pedals section and have been enjoying the forum for a while.
So to break the Ice so to speak I am going to post some pics of the mod I did on a Oahu my nephew gave me comments, questions are welcome.
Here is a list of items that were changed
The pickup did not work so it was replaced
As I attempted to modify the original plate the pickup was mounted to I boogered it up it pretty bad so I used a piece of pickguard material and mounted the tele bridge to it in essence creating the same type of part pickup mount and bridge all one piece
I also added string Ferrules which made a huge difference in sustain and resonance
last but not least the tuners were replaced
I took a tele control plate and cut ot down to facilitate the controls
The guitar plays nice and sounds great! Besides look at the beautiful Mother of Toilet seat finish

Sweet mod, Rex!
Are you gonna play around with pickup choice on that, now you can easily swap out different kinds of strat-size/shape pups?
You could go for one of those single-coil-sized humbuckers, & there's probably room on that chrome plate for a coil-tap switch...
I'm looking at the control placement on there, which one is the volume pot, & which the tone?
Do you bow the volume pot with your pinky? |

Thats Right Chris as you look at the picture the volume is on the right
thanks for the favorable vote
And its funny you should mention a coil tap switch because I was thinking the same exact thing _________________ Rex Myers Fessenden U-12, 6 string Lap, Randall Steelman. Fender Princeton ReverbII, QuilterTT12 |
