This was a bass I posted a few days back.. I finally have it here and it is not an investment grade guitar.. The ash body wood grain is gorgeous, but the bass has been refinished by an amateur!... Pickguard is a chrome unit and is probably not factory.. Tuners were replaced with high quality nickle units.. All changes were done decades ago.. There is some finish wear on the edge of the neck from playing..
Mechanically the guitar is in good shape, with minimal fret wear, GREAT playing neck and a big gorgeous vintage P bass sound...It plays so super soft, low and accurate, that I would LOVE to keep it, but I need another bass like I need a head wound... I was told it was a 77 but it is indeed a 79.
It will clean up nicely, and would make a very nice vintage players P bass. best reasonable offer takes it. no trades as this is not my guitar.. bob

The chrome pickguard is dirty and could use some simichrome or mothers if you actually LIKE chrome pickguards, but aside from that and the amateur refin, this is a wonderful old bass.. It plays so low, soft and sweet with no buzzes, rattles or dead spots anywhere and has that big majestic P bass tone.. Really a great old Fender bass for low budget vintage gear lovers.. Frets, pickups, neck, bridge are all fine and it really is mechanically perfect.. looks nice too.. Just not all original with the refin, and changed tuners... best offer wins... bob
