OK, I'm playing lap steel and using (occasionally) my Dunlop (~1989) volume pedal, simple stock thing (looks like a crybaby wah, non-powered).
I don't have access to other vol pedals to try...is there that much a difference? thanks!

If you're happy with the action (design, smoothness, speed, and ergonics) that's all that's important. One pot pedal is pretty much like every other one, electrically.
