Those look real nice Gerald. I like the idea of the 23 1/2" scale. A nice comprimise.
Any word of an eight string in the future?

I was thinking of doing a guitar with a tele-style bridge, but this exceeds what I had in my imagination. Looks great! I'm not ruling out a similar blonde for myself in the future, but I don't want to be accused of stealing an idea.

And here I always thought BAB meant big-ass-Buick.

Steinar: is that bridge actually ON a tele that's set up for slide work or something? No compensation = slide-tastic, I'm guessing.  Is it a commercial product?

Greg - it is developed by 'our own' Loni Specter of Lapdancer Guitars, who's also responsible for the "Redneck" replacement neck ("how to convert a Tele or Strat to a lap steel"), and is meant to replace the original bridges on Teles that's converted to lap steels. According to Loni it will produce a beefier tone and better sustain than an original Tele bridge.

I was a bit surprised when I first saw the Fender style adjustable bridges on the Eckenbacher. But after a few seconds of playing it and hearing the tone all my preconceived notions were dismissed.
The steel sounds great and I was able to dial in an excellent tone within seconds. Yes, seconds.

There's no reason in the world a Tele bridge couldn't work just as well as any other kind of bridge! At the end of the day, it's just a piece of metal. Many steels use literally just a piece of metal and some way to anchor the strings.

Nothing new under the sun is right, but that doesn't negate a great idea.
The Tele bridge is a *little* narrow for some people's tastes but works great and the wide variety of P/U choices means that you can choose a lot of different tones.
On mine I combined the Tele and Les Paul look.

BTW, I was also at the uke fest and the Earnest steels are top quality. Everything that he builds is. Unfortunately, I did not demo one as I was running with the flu. |
