XM-Sirius merger approved by DOJ

(In the original request for licensing, the two entities said they would never, never, never, double dog dare never ever want to merge or ask to merge...)

I wonder how long it will be before they ruin XM Channel 13...

Although (and I say this as a longtime XM subscriber) I find Sirius to have a far superior lineup of country channels, I may have to just say no to the merged entity because the CEO of Sirius used to be one of the duelling nabobs of my television-conglomerate employer and I quickly came to regard him as the antichrist. (Lower case c, because as tyrants go, I regard him as petty, if overesteemed.) Willie's Place (13) on XM is one of the gems, but my biggest disappointment is X-Country (12), purportedly alt-country, but really just bush-league grunge . No twang, no joy, no fun. Whether I still subscribe to SiriXM or not, I await the unceremonious burial of the monumentally disappointing Channel 12. Coming from a traditional country and bluegrass background, I looked to it for new artists and fresh takes using the ingredients that made country great, but my only even occasional rewards were artists I already knew and songs I already owned. Good riddance in advance, X-Country.

(And Ray, if you knew the legacy of the Sirius CEO like I knew the legacy of the Sirius CEO when he was at the former "Tiffany Network," you would not at all be surprised by the double-talking reversal of philosophy regarding the idea of a merger.)

"The deal, the agency said, was unlikely to hurt competition or consumers."

What competition? XM and Sirius are the only two satellite radio stations I know of .... Confused
