How do I spell relief from NS and the other country BS.............I don't watch the freakin crap!!
Sorry Bama, I just felt the urge to vent. I need a Time Jumpers fix with Dawn Sears and Papa John to steer me back to authentic country music.
Or perhaps a little of Master Bobbe Seymours new Jazz cd.
I'm OK now.... I think.

You got that right Wally,After buying the gas to get to my next gig, maybe I'll have enough left to get that one,No matter WHO'S in NV,mR. seymore is STILL THE KING,My favorite player in the past was Curly,in the present is Mr.S.He is definitely a true stylist, can take ANY song,ANY style and put that Seymore touch to it.DYKBC. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. Hey Bama,
Gotta go along with you in regards to Bobbe Seymour. He is all that on my cd player these days. The man is a steel guitar master for sure.
I am currently listening to an advance copy of a new Jazz album that he coming out with that you MUST get if you like smooth old time Jazz. It is a departure in many ways of what you may be used to hearing from him, but talk about killer old time jazz, this will blow you away. You will swear you are in Casa Blanca or watching the Moonlight Over Vermont.
His execution is flawless and he strokes every little note out of that Emmons on the C6th side. You will almost swear you hear a trumpet or clarinet wailing away. I was really impressed. He said he wanted to go back and recreate the sound of jazz like it was played back in the day. No fancy frills, just a drum, piano, upright bass, guitar and Bobbe on steel.
If you want something that really sounds good and relaxes you, Bama, your going to love this.
When you get your copy, and I KNOW you will, let me know what YOU think. Even if you are not a jazz fan but you enjoy steel playing, you will like this album for sure. Glad to see that there are others that enjoys Bobbe's playing as much as I do.

Wally,by a lot of my posts some may think I ONLY like hard core classic country music, and I do love it,but the old swing and jazz of the 30's and 40's I dearly love. When I was a kid growing up in the 40's about all that was on the radio was the big band pop and country[they called it hillbilly music] I loved both of it.Two of my first musical heros were Hank Snow and Bird Parker,Bird's music is still as fresh today as it was decades ago. When I go on a rant today it's when I hear someone call this absolute crud today country music,IT'S NOT.I agree about Mr.S.he plays it ALL,be it country, swing,or jazz, the right way.I have many CD'S and tapes of all the big guys that every one raves about,But I listen to Mr.S.more than the rest of them put together.DYKBC. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. Hey Bama,
I have a couple of cd's of yours and there were some tunes that I could tell had overtones of a touch of jazz to it.
And no apologies or even explanation needed here ol' buddy, when it comes to country. I don't have to define it, I know what it is and I know what I like.
But I appreciate many types of music and I really enjoy GOOD music be it country, rock, jazz or one of my favorites, Southern Rock.
BUT..........just because you record on a country label, sure does not mean you are country.
Bobbe Seymour does not limit himself to any one kind of music. The man is equally at home with about any kind and he does have a knack for what I call "Seymourizing" almost any tune he does. I'd better quit the "praising" of him, he will read this post and his head will be so swelled, he won't be able to get under the steel to hook up the volume pedal.

I don't know how much some of you recall the Gong show, but pictured here is a fellow who called himself "Smoggy Mountain Slim" or Sometimes 'Smoggy Slim' for short. He was on the Gong show several times. The catch was he was so corny he always got hooked, but they paid him to do that.
He used to come sit in with us in the 80's. I'd get him up to do 2 or 3 songs. He was so strange that folks loved him. Always did Bluegrass songs. His signature song was "T for Texas" and every time he said T he would jump up. We'd have a ball trying to jump with him. I suppose he's gone now, but what a guy. |

That's allright Wally,if Mr S.ever got the big head I would'nt care,he's earned the right to do so.If I was one-tenth as good as he is,it would take a forty gallon hat to fit me.DYKBC. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. Hey Ken,
Sorry, but that one blew by me. But he had a gimmick and it worked so more power to him. He made it on national TV and me, I sit at home hacking away at an instrument that I will never master, but enjoying every minute of it.
I enjoyed the gong show because I never took it serious, It was what it was...........entertainment!!
I say bring it back and lets all enjoy some light hearted moments again. This nation could stand a laugh or two anyway. Thanks for the info.
