Allison Moorer IMHO is one of the most talented ladies in music. She's a great writer, singer, and a certifiable knockout to look at along with being Shelby Lynn's younger sister.

All that said, I couldn't believe what I saw. I was watching a music show on PBS last week and they introduced the husband and wife team of Allison Moore and Steve Earle. Steve Earle! He's got to be one of the ugliest, drug infested creeps that ever came along. He is talented however and I like a lot of his music, but he don't deserve this girl. Is she legally blind or what! On the show, she didn't even have her hair done like she usually does and was dressed kinda shabby like he was. I can't stand it! I wish I'd never seen that show as I'm devastated now! I think I'm going to commit Hari-Kari with a sharpened thumbpick........JH in Va.

Steve will never make the cover of GQ, but he has been clean of drugs for a number of years.

I really like Allison Moorer a lot, I have seen her play live twice in the past two years.

Jeez Jerry...would you have the cajones to make the above statements to Steve's face if you ran into him in public?

C'mon, man!

Whoa!

Lyle Lovett is an inspiration for us ugly guys. I keep hoping Julia Roberts will decide to get divorced again and will arrive on my doorstep...it never seems to happen and I'm convinced it's because she's lost my address! Very Happy

If she is dumb, marrying someone brilliant like Steve Earle was probably a pretty smart move.

She's probably not dumb, though.

He credits her for changing his life, and he's come a long, long way. I happen to think that's pretty awesome.

I beg to differ. I'm acquainted with both those people and they are both inteligent and sophisticated. Steve's drinking and drug use is far behind him as is mine and a lot of others I know. Granted he doesn't look like he did when he was young but then who does? There's nothing remotely creepy about him. He scored big when he hooked up with Allison and that's a fact. About a year and a half ago I had the pleasure of recording her at Blackbird Studios in Nashville on a record I was producing and have hung out,had dinner and gone club hopping with them both. His son Justin Townes Earle is a helluva singer/songwriter/guitar player himself and is at least as good as his daddy was at that age. He's got a record out and will hit the scene pretty soon and you'll be able to see that for yourself. I can't really say anything but good about those folks. There's a lot more going on there than you think. If you ever get to meet them, you'll see what I mean.

I wish half the people riding around this island
looked half as good as him,
and were as dressed to hide it all,
and had as FEW tattoos...

I met Waylon a few years back.
I helped interview him for NYNews1
Steve looks mightly close,
to the way the outlaw looked back in 1994.

Yeah he hooked himself a BABE,
but maybe his MIND had something to do with it too.
By all accounts he's pretty sharp.

From what I know Steve Earl has been to Hell and back,Did his prison time and is clean...got his life together,he's probably a wonderful guy now and just maybe Allison is part of his reward,You should be happy for the both of them instead of how he looks. Oh Well

Steve Earle is a world class singer/songwriter, and miss Moorer is not far behind. God works in strange ways. Some times he brings people together to help eachother. Looks sometimes have very little to do with it. They obviously love eachother and compliment eachother, and thats the most important thing. Mr. Earle does not indulge in drugs anymore and I am sure from what I have read that Ms. Allison has been a great positive influence on him. This is a true love story. God bless the both of them, and may they both have eternal happiness together. Howard, me too. Ralph Cramden also.

A friend of mine did some work with one of the musicians from "the Dukes" who played with Steve for a number of years. Being a big fan of Steve Earl he off course had to ask what it was like working with him, and he got the following answer: "well, i hate to ruin Steves reputation, but he's nothing but a cuddly old teddybear and he's just about the nicest guy you could ever meet."

He's been a big influence to me and so many others and i wish the very best to him and his loved ones.

If Steve turned his life around then I'm all for him and will be in his corner! He is without a doubt one of the better songwriters around and a pretty fair performer to wit. I was just so in love with Allison that it shocked me to see her with him. But then again, some people are shocked to see my ugly old 6'4" 265 lb. frame with my lovely little 5'2' 120 lb. wife. If they're on a good road then I wish them both happiness, maybe we're in for some good music to be made by them as a team......JH in Va.

Same with me, Jerry. I'm sure folks are surprised to see me, ugly S.O.B. that I am, in the company of my beautiful wife! Shocked

In the past two years at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, I've seen Steve join Allison in versions of the Pete Seeger classic, "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?"

Just the two of them with six-strings, in beautiful harmony.

Just to balance things out for you ugly guys with the beautiful wives, nobody could ever be more stupid in their choice of spouses than I was with my first wife. She was certainly a physical beauty. But.......anyway, even if I thought Ms. Moorer had made a foolish choice, something I am not in any position to judge, I would keep it to myself if only to avoid calling the kettle black.

Trivia: Steve Earle has had a supporting role on HBO's The Wire for several seasons, playing a Narcotics Anonymous sponsor to one of the recovering crackheads from the Baltimore streets. From all accounts, his character's descriptions of the havoc drugs wreaked on his life mirror Earle's own.

The character's name? Walon. Check out the picture.
