Hi everyone!
I know it's kinda lame of me but I was so phyched to see one of my steels on the Grammys lastnight I wanted to post it.
It was during Carrie Underwoods performance. It's a Rodeo played by Chad Jeffers. Here is a Youtube clip:

You can see it about 1:30 into it (and not for very long I might add so don't blink!)
For some reason the camera kept on Carrie I can't IMAGINE why

| Thanks guys! My two boys 8 & 12 were thrilled to see it on TV, I took the 12 year old to her show last weekend when we delivered it. That poor boy is now utterly smitten with Miss Underwood! |

| I just recently bought my first lap steel to play in a country band, and that song, "Before He Cheats," is the first song I learned. It was great for me to see the You-Tube clip and to know what brand of lap steel he was playing. Thanks! |

Congat's Jason.... first Jerry Douglas playing a Belair at the CMA's and now Chad Jeffers playing a Rodeo at the Grammy's. Man, that is too cool, you must be extemely jacked right about now. Chad did a great job too... I actually was able to concentrate on the audio while the video was playing 
This just increases the GAS that I have for a Rodeo which has been on my wish list for a while now.
I've never heard of Chad before, what else has he done?

I tuned in to see her performance (well, not so much the performance as the steel. . .and Carrie) since you mentioned it on another thread (about the stand-up support arm) and was expecting to see another Bel-Aire. Cool to see the Rodeo get some airtime!
Can the support arm be added to an existing steel, or does it have to be built-in at the time of original production?

Yeah Mark, I'm really jacked! I'm just finishing up a Rodeo for Gary Morse it will be in the spray booth tomorrow. He's one of my all time favorites. (I'm a huge Dwight Yokam fan)I hope I get to meet him too!
Chad has toured with Keith Urban and Kenny Loggins and has his own band going on. his site is www.chadjeffers.com Terrific guy.
As far as that peformance being country.....
I just saw their show and it was DEFINATELY country and spectacular! Huge light show, great sound, and that girl can sing!!!
I think they tried to do something er...."unique" for the show.
Vince, an arm can be added to just about anything. I have one on my strat with an extension nut. Of course you have to drill holes into the back
The only tricky part is finding the "sweet" spot where it sits nice. |

The lyrics to the song in question are considered in most circles, I think, to be an archetypal representation of country music LYRICAL sensibilities. The main difference that I have seen between popular music genre in the last 20(?) years has been in the lyrics and not so much in the sound.

| i'm not really into cheerleading or modern dance....and it's too bad that nice carrie would allow herself to be portrayed as a cheap dirty whore to sell records...but evidently the music business and it's artists have no shame or class...just money.... nice little steel though! |
