No, it is not Weldon or Dickie. He was a young kid in 1978 and already a great player. By the way, he is posting on the Forum occasionally.

Not Paul or Tommy...The vocalist is one hell of a fiddle player who also worked with Johnny Bush, steel player worked with the vocalist on most of his recordings...

Wow, so many opinions! I freely admit, I would not have found the right answer, without having the album:
Singer is Fiddlin' Frenchie Burke, with Robbie Springfield on steel!

I was telling my wife, before I scrolled down to see who it was, that it sounded like a Cajun singing!. I've only seen the one LP with Big Mamou, etc. I did buy a Greatest Hits cd or cassette at the ET Record shop in Nvul a few years ago and it was TERRIBLE! Everything had been recut and was nowhere close to the original cuts. |

Walter,
Who's doing the b-bender lead guitar work? It's great! Singer reminds me alot of FBB. Doesn't sound like a cajun at all.
Sorry for the delay, I know this was LAST week's clip. |

No problem, Cody.
The lead guitar work is by Randy Cornor (who also made some recordings on his own).

Walter,
Something's amiss here. I don't think we're talking about the same song. The song I'm talking about is "Somebody's back in town".
Maybe my computer is screwed up and I got an old clip-of-the-week from several weeks ago. I think sometimes that happens to me for some reason.
Please set it all straight, Walter. |

Hi Cody,
No, we were talking about two different clips - you were referring to the week before the Frenchie Burke Clip. That was Chris Hillman, with J.D. Maness on steel and James Burton on Lead Guitar, from the Sugar Hill album "Desert Rose".

Ahhh.
No WONDER the guitar-playing was so good.
Thanks, Walter. I love clip-of-the-week.
And sorry for the confusion. |
