Hi George,
At 11:45 pm, this is the best I can do for you! Note that this is from the CD, not a vinyl album. Also note, that it comes "pre autographed" by Doug! If this doesn't work for you, let me know. I've also added the back cover. Regards, Jim Harrison

They are all good on that album, but "Four" and "Bluesette" really stand out. Not sure what the thinking was for that cover, but the pickin is fabulous.

Question about the piano player, Beegie Cruser - is this the same lady as Beegie Adair? Adair has some beautiful CDs out these days, and I believe she works out of Nashville to this day. Just wondering.

Someone around here oughta know...

And how old was Doug when this was recorded? He couldn't have been playing for very many years. This is the album that hooked me on the steel guitar, and the cover had nothing to do with it. My uncle got a copy somewhere and loaned it to me, and he almost had to fight me to get it back. Then I found Tom Bradshaw and bought my own.

GREAT STUFF!!!!

Buddy Harman talks of this album everytime I visit him. He plays great on it and and actually loaned it to me to hear. He talks of how much he loves Doug's playing. I thought it was cool how he swings 4/4,(against the 3/4) on the cymbal during the solos on BLUESETTE.

No they are not the same. I was told that Beegie Cruser passed away a few years back when I was talking about her to some Nashville musicians in Switzerland once in the early 80's. I don't know if this is correct. Bobbe might know.

I was interested in this lady's career after hearing her playing on Doug's album. She played on Nashville recordings with the top players of the time, Lloyd Green, Norbert Putman, Buddy Harman, Buddy Spicher, Grady Martin, Pete Wade etc. She played both piano and organ. One of the albums that she played on was Henry Mancini's, "Mancini Country".

Uptown to Country is one of the classic steel albums.

Beegie Cruser also played on some of Curley Chalkers stuff, and I think she played with him at ISGC one year.

Evidently they are the same person. I just did the Google thing and this came up:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Subject: Little Bitty Beegie Cruser
From: "PC Fields"
Date: Mon, 21 Nov 2005 19:40:14 -0800

From Recent Correspondence:

Beegie (Cruser) Adair (Re: California Bloodlines): "Those were the days
of long, long sessions that went on into the night, and sometimes we
played on something that might or might not get used. That was in the
free-wheeling days before the Corporate Thugs got a grip on the record
biz, and people still made records that felt good, and everybody was in
the room at the same time! I remember that we were at Woodland Street
Studios, and I remember that on the long closing of one of the tunes,
John went around the room (on the mike, live) and spoke to all the
musicians. My name was Cruser then, and I'm short (5'1") and he
introduced me on the track as "Little Bitty Beegie Cruser." He was very
cordial, and fun to work with..."

Darvin - I am a little surprised as the lady pictured on the back of Doug's album looks a little older (30 years ago) and different to the one on Beegie Adair's web page. Strange. Maybe she has found the secret to eternal youth. Smile
