as you know, how you bend your finger picks makes a big differance in your playing.
show us the finger picks you use and what you settled on as far as where you bend them to. _________________ This is the day that the Lord has made and i will rejoice and be glad in it. |

I use to bend my picks so they are extended above my finger nail slightly, a few years ago I started useing jeff newman picks and have been useing them exclusively since. I never need to bend or modify the JF picks. |

Ditto on what A.J. said. Just make them comfortable on your fingers. I can't imagine using anything else. _________________ Keep pickin', Larry |

Curtis, I recently bought a set of flat Perfect Touch Picks, they are pre-bent to the proper angle, and fit like a glove. they are a bit pricey compared to other picks, but the company must have done a lot of R&D to come up with such a fine product, and for me it was money well spent. they stay on without pinching your finger. there may be others that are just as good, and I am not affilliated with this company, Just a satisfied customer. |

Yep they're pricey but I thought I'd take a chance. The day I get them in the mail Rusty announces a 17.95 thumbpick you can get for $10.00 when you buy a set of two fingerpicks. I ask can I get the $10.00 price since his announcement and my picks crossed in the mail. Get a "so sorry but no" answer from him. I'll let that speak for itself. My perfect touch picks are on their way back to Tenneesee under the 45 day satisfaction guarentee. I prefer to spend my money with someone with more concern for keeping a customer. By the way, the nickle-silver flat picks don't have the ridges on the inside surface as advertised. At least the pair sent to me didn't. Back to Pro-Piks and a fuller wallet for this steeler. |

Jan, I agree that is not good customer relation. the set I bought was the flat silver nickle, the inside was roughen with a coarse abrasive, I believe that is what they called "Ridges". I did'nt order the thumb pick as I am happy with the one I have. I really like the picks though. |

Got a call personal call from the manufacturer, Rusty, tonight apologizing and offering to make things right. I've accepted and have changed my opinion of his committemnet to customer satisfaction. So a bad experience turned out well, and don't let my original comments bias you against his product. |

Rusty is a first class gentleman , I ordered the thumb pick this morning and just received an email saying it was sent, I have not paid as yet because my address here in Spain is a little odd and was unable to fill in the order form, He will send me his Paypal account details and get paid.
Has anyone got one yet? it looks like it could ok, if it as good as the other pick I'll be well pleased... |

I used to try to wear them like Doug Jernigan does, shoved all the way up and thumbpick the same way. I prefer that for steel guitar but I use thumb and fingerpicks for lead guitar also and it hinders me on that instrument as it makes my attack too heavy unless I use heavier gauge strings than I like. I've gotten used to Elixer (9-42) strings so I've been trying to play steel with my picks farther out on the finger so I can use them the same way for both instruments and it's working OK so far. Here's how mine look (notice those clean fingernails, my wife made me clean 'em before the picture(s) were taken)!.....JH in Va.

I pretty much gave up using finger-picks about 5 years ago; so your implied premise brought a smile to my face.
When I do wear picks I wear 4 finger-picks and a thumb-pick and I bend them to be comfortable. Beyond that I no longer give much thought to how I wear them. I like a little bit of the tip to project out so that I can cross-pick.
The only instrument I still regularly use finger-picks with is Dobro. _________________ Regards

All I wear is NATIONALS. Have a bunch from the 60's, and also use them on my banjo, and dobro. I have never bent them, and they work just fine. That way, no matter what picks I grab, they are all the same. _________________ Sho-Bud LDG, Martin D28, Ome trilogy 5 string banjo, Ibanez 4-string bass, dobro, fiddle, and a tubal cain. I prefer Pro-piks Reso. They bend slightly to the right and cap my finger tip, which is the way I like it for pedal, non-pedal or dobro. _________________ Carter D12, MSA S12, 12 String Custom Made Non-Pedal, Evans FET 500LV, Evans SE200, Peavey Nashville 400, Fender Steel King |
