Despite the dubious tuning this is classic.
Say no more.

Thanks for posting!

Quote:
String stretching in place of the use of tremolo bars is another irksome mistreatment of musical instruments. I can't in good conscience deliberately cause excessive wear and tear on an instrument; by some manipulative gymnastics. Surely you are aware of the additional friction caused by the incessant scrubbing of strings on the frets and maple or rosewood fretboards. Supporting such acts smacks of a crack in good judgment
.

I couldn't resist resurrecting this quotation, sorry; don't know why it came to mind watching this cool clip!

Pete, who said that?

Two thoughts---Jimi LOVED that #9 chord, didn't he?
And, when will we see cymbals with little rivets in them again?

Let's just say it was a frequent forum contributor and leave it at that; I think it's safe to say he's not a Hendrix fan!

I can never understand Lulu's Glasgow accent.
The middle minute of this is probably my favourite ever Hendrix:

What was it..?..about 10 o'clock on the Monday morning. Just a few hardy souls left to see Sha Na Na then Jimi's strange ensemble.
Ah, how history embellishes the fragile memory of the viewer.
Jeezo, Arch! Now you're starting to sound Hankeyish. Rolling Eyes

Nice, Archie. This almost 3 hr. show was an up and down affair, and this was one of the many ups for sure. I love how in the middle of this # he once again fits in that signature riff he always used in Machine Gun, and a couple of other 'jams within a song'. Such a simple little passage, but he sure liked it.

ROTFLMAO! I remember that thread. Being a mean, mistreating, "string-stretching" guitar player, reading that left me too paralyzed to respond at the time. Probably just as well.

The format of those 60s British rock shows are always a hoot to me, but Jimi was in fine form, even with the detuned string. Jimi still sets the standard for great rock guitar playing, to me.

Is this the singer Lulu who was married to one of the Gibbs brothers? Lulu of To Sir With Love?
