Forumite and HSGA member Craig Prior tabbed out a fun to play C6 tune in the Spring 2006 HSGA Quarterly. I got my issue in the mail yesterday, HSGA members should have their edition already or any day now.

Craig did a fantastic job tabbing out a bouncy little polka-like tune called "Mrs. Puff's Boating School March". The printed tab is available to HSGA members only. Sorry, but membership does have it's privledges.

Thanks Craig, beautiful job!

Also in the HSGA Quarterly there is great contributing piece by our fellow Forumite, Mike Ihde, on the Berklee College's Steel Guitar Lab.

Mike shares some interesting history on Bill Leavitt and the lap steel how the Leavitt tuning (C# dim7 add C and D) developed.

As well, there are other interesting tidbits of steel guitar news.

The Quarterly is well worth the subscription price because there is always tablature included.

Aloha,
Don

That march sounds almost exactly like another one I've heard by Sol Hoopii - is it called "Feeling No Pain"?

The playing is wonderful on that clip. Who is the player? Is that Craig?

True, I don't watch cartoons much.

So my question still stands - who is the player?

Thanks
Bill

It's from Nickelodeon's archives ...

I remember Mike N. sayin' he had that exact song on a record ... but I can't remember who he said it was.

I have heard Rudi Wairata clips on different episodes for sure & some Sol Hoopii too (I think ???)

The sound crew sure is good ... cause they incorporate some of these old classics ... almost seemlessly tied together ... makin' it real fun to watch/listen to ... albiet hard to narrow down who's playin' what .

These ... along with Gary Brandin & The Blue Hawaiians ... some Jeremy Wakefield and even an episode featuring Junior Brown ...

Kinda makes you wanna buy the DVDs of that "Little Poriferan" ... or at least Tivo the show ...

If you don't have any "wee ones" around the house you can "blame" it on ...

Thanks, guys. I don't know who the player is to that piece... it sure is a fun little polka, though.

Sounds like someone who has listened to Sol Hoopii play 'Farewell Blues' and then gone their own way. I love it.
