Attractively packaged, original photographs, available at nominal production/postage cost to anyone ( e-mail me directly). MP3s and early mixes of many tracks are already available to SGFites.
Sleeve Notes:
" this seventh and final of a series of recordings was compiled in a period during which the world reconciled to the continuance of fists of steel in areas of war and tension; a natural disaster struck the richest country. human emotions and survival instincts were seen to be the same anywhere. this has also been a period of personal transition, from living in the equanimity and beauty of a tropical garden country, moving to the excitement and beauty of another coast.
four steel guitars feature in this compilation: the West Coast C6 and B11 tunings, which i continue to enjoy, a Charvel-Jackson acoustic-electric in Dmaj tuning, and the 'steelocaster' in A6 tuning. i include a variation of timbres and tunes ranging from old hawaiian to evergreen pop and from ballad to bollywood. included is a re-mix of a previous release, this time combining the pedal steel guitar wizardry of chuck lettes of colorado. also included is a second version of the Hoagy Carmichael standard, surely one of the greatest songs of all time. the compilation ends with a track made popular by Hank Marvin, my guitar hero, who did much to bring standard guitar to the masses. steel guitar needs a similar champion.
no commercial gain is intended for these recordings but let us raise the bar for the advancement of the art of steel guitar and let it gain its rightful place amongst the loveliest and most versatile musical instruments in the world. "
