From reading the Tom Petty thread comes the curiosity: who decides the nature of a Superbowl performance, the artist, or someone else?
Yes, the question sounds too obvous, but who would be surprised to hear that some associate producer nerd is at the controls? |

With no first hand knowledge, I would venture to say that any material was vetted by TV execs, lawyers, NFL commishioner, and who knows else. They have very strict time guidelines for these kind of shows and ever since the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction they want no surprises. |
