I received a copy of Hot Club of America CD from a friend the other day , I was amazed at what I heard. The guitar playing of Jody Carver and John Cucci is truly remarkable , they put a fresh twist on old familiar songs. Though the recording was made in 1958 , it was way ahead of it's time. I would encourage everybody to give it a listen. - Rich

Rich, I couldn't agree more. HCOA is an amazing album - one of a kind.
Jody's playing is topnotch, and Johnny Cucci plays some great stuff too.
This CD is a must-have for any lover of Steel Guitar.

Let me echo that this is a "must-buy" CD for people who like exciting electric steel and guitar playing. If pressed, I'd described it as kind of like Speedy West & Jimmy Bryant with a New York, ethnic edge. Jody's playing has that rare combination of showmanshipp AND musical content. Johnny Cucci deserved to be better known for his toneful, clean and precise flatpicking.

Reminds me of an old song...

"Little Sir Echo, How do you do ?
Hello, Hello !"

Well, I can only echo everything that has been said about the HCOA disc...as mentioned, it was years ahead of its time....a CLASSIC!!! Very Happy

The HCOA CD is a kick to hear; you find yourself smiling just because you can tell how much fun they were having making it. It's nothing like the recordings made nowadays - all serious business, with every detail cleaned and polished...all the joy extracted and dumped on the mixing room floor. It so obvious these guys didn't take themselves all that seriously and checked their egos at the door - they played WAY "outside" at some points, not to show off but just because it was FUN.

It reminds me of a really good jam session with friends....when everything just falls together and the players are "on radar", you're in a semi-trance, and afterwards are depressed because nobody thought to tape it!

This one sounds like a bunch of guys just pumped and having a blast, and you can really sense the energy level and the fact they are playing for the sheer joy of it. No matter what style of steel you play it's a great find. I think everyone from hard-core country players to blues-rockers will find something on the CD that will make them say "what was THAT?"...and hit rewind while laughing like crazy....

Winking

Boy am I a lucky guy. I had a great day on Friday. I went to visit Jody Carver at his home in Milford, Penn as I have done many times before and many times when He and his Lovely wife Marilyn lived in Somers, NY. just 15 min from me then. But the trips to Milford , PA are a great outing for me and worth the effort, not just to spend a day with this legend, and
I know when he reads this he is going to say "ah comon Bill, I'm no legend, stop already" , but to have a great day of laffs and stories with a good friend.
I come away every time, totaly amazed. THis time I luged along my D10 Sho _Bud . Well, he ripped that Guitar a new Butt. "And he plays without Pedals" You should hear him with Pedal and Knee levers. Andif I ask him what he did, He stops, and breaks it down for me so that even I can understand it. Jody hides nothing and shares it all. Well he showed me the original music and charts from Hot Club of America. I will be out to visit Jody agin and again becaues to tell you the truth, even if this man didn't play the Steel, I would still like him. He is my good friend who happens to be a great Steel guitarist.

Hi Jody,
I listened to the samples on your site, and I would sure like to get a copy of this CD.
It looks like B0bby Lee is all out them. Do you sell them yourself? Is it possible to send you the money via PayPal?

BTW - I was looking at the pics of your fenders. On the custom tweed triple neck, does the placement of the controls interfere with the playing of the second neck at all?
