I was wondering what would todays Music under these three qualified History makers of Country Music & Musicians, Little Richie Johnson/Johnny Dollar & Tex Clark impact on Country Radio Stations.Forgotten about to how many recording sessions that these three gave to Steel Guitar players.I know for sure every session had a steel guitar on it by them.I use to work for all three of them as a Record Promoter & where good friends.Do any of you out there remember them? well, ..nobody said nuthin', so, i'll drop in...
mid to late 70's, little ritchie was quite the promoter/producer and high profile booking agent. if he promoted you, you turned-up everywhere in the trades and ev'rybody at least knew you were out there making the dream come true.
he had bumper stickers with your name on every telephone pole and bus-stop bench in music city and i guess everywhere that little ritchie went along the way in high traffic music lovin'-tourist venue's.
i was there last month and low and behold, on 17th avenue there is still a little ritchie boot bumper sticker way-up on a light pole across the street from the sony offices.
i had not thought of him in years. it was like a letter from the past! did ritchie put it there?
that's when the music was country.....and real.
tex clark at monument records was the man of wisdom.
he was in high esteem to all the king-makers on the hill. when his roster was full and he thought you had sumpthin', he would not hesitate to call another label and make an appointment for you.
his advice was priceless. you could not afford to buy it, but, if he gave it you could take it to the 1st national bank of music city.
i did not know johnny dollar. i knew who he was and i saw him around town. a lot of future hit artist came thru johnny dollar's door and he brought them up to the next level.
i remember the time....................
