Hi All,
Kristina Jacobsen again, here. My second big question about lapsteel is regarding singing and playing at the same time. I've been reading what's been written about the topic so far and it's been really helpful, but I'd love some more specific advice from those of you who actually do it.
For instance, I'm starting to play out and sing lead, playing both fills and solos, but I'm having trouble keeping my mouth close to the mike while singing AND seeing my fretboard in order to play fills at the same time. Someone mentioned the 'peripheral vision' thing, but so far that's just not working for me. Any other advice?

Also, for a non-console steel, what would anyone recommend as far as adding legs so that I can stand, sing and play? Are there ones that can be made to screw on and off? And are they fairly stable?

thanks everyone!

Hi Kristina, and welcome to the forum.
I angle the microphone so that I can see most of the fretboard while still singing directly into the mic.
Not the easiest thing to do, especially when I have to work a volume or wah pedal, AND have a look at the lyric sheet now and then because I'm hopeless at remembering lyrics...

Hi, Kristina -- it's definitely a challenge. I want to maintain occasional eye contact with the audience, but I need to see where my hands are. On top of that, I have to see where my effects pedals are. Somehow, it works out, but it's a bit of a tap dance.
