Forumite Rick Aiello is entering the world of politics.

The results are in from the HSGA Board of Directors election and Rick Aiello won a seat!

The new HSGA Board of Directors for 2006 - 2008 are:
Kamaka Tom *
Lorene Ruymar *
Pete Kahele
Tom Tohma *
Rick Aiello
Don Weber *
Gordon Freitas
Gerald Ross *
Dick Lloyd

(* indicates incumbent)

The new board will officially take over effective July 1, 2006.

In addition to the $150,000 a year salary, Rick is also entitled to three all expense paid trips to Hawaii per year, a company car or outrigger canoe, his choice of a steel guitar from the HSGA Instrument Vault (not to exceed one Stringmaster, one pre-war Bakelite or two MOT Oahus), a kukui nut lei, a $10 gift certificate to the ABC stores and six pounds of Kona coffee.

Yeah right.

Musta been all them babies I've been kissin' lately ...

Oh ... my own don't count ???

Seriously, it's quite an honor ... and I'm extremely flattered.

I'll try my best to serve in a dignified manner ...

While I'm here ... my family wants y'all to come on out to the Shenandoah Valley Hawaiian Steel Guitar Summit ... next Sat. (April Cool ...

See the Moonlighters, The Hula Monster (Dave Giegerich) and Gerald Ross perform on this stage:

Several other "quest performers" are on the line up also.

No admission charge or "passin' the hat" ... but please BYOLC (lawn chairs)...

This steel guitar will be on sale there, too ...

The trees are bloomin' and I'm in the mood to have a seriously good time !!!!

Hi, Rick.
And congratulations to a very deserving guy. Your unselfish contributions to the Hawaiian lap-steel community will have a lasting effect on the instrument and players.

I am glad to see you get the well-deserved recognition.

Gads, all the perks politicians receive these days ! When I was on the board, I was lucky to receive a coconut, and THEN I had to climb the damned tree to retrieve it !
Congratulations Rick. As mentioned, we need new young blood to keep the HSGA moving forward in the years ahead.

This is my cue to begin an immediate probe into the actions (and more likely, inactions) of this HSGA board.

My preemptive investigation will attempt to thwart corruption and clean it up before it contaminates this pristine form of music.

Rick,
Congratulations -- I'm sure you will do an excellent job and contribute much to HSGA and the perpetuation of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar and Hawaiian Music. It appears you have some up and coming steel players in your family -- yes? Good Luck
