I have a friend that has just recently become interested in pedal steel and has just bought a used Black MSA(sounds better) Sidekick 3+1....he has it quite out of whack and couldn't seem to get it to tune up and play right and asked me to try and adjust it up for him....I went over and found that on this guitar you have to tune the open at the end plate and the raises at the tuners..except for the E's which lower and tune the opposite,...Is this normal for this student guitar or has someone along the way changed it to this set up?...I managed to get enough travel to accomodate the E9th tuning and all the raises and the one lower E's to Eb's... I find it backward to my thinking and it was time consuming to keep remembering this...
Anyways thanx in advance to those who might know... Confused

Dale,
That's the way most, if not all the first PSGs were tuned, AKA pull release. The lower pulls were spring loaded to hold the fingers against the body.

aaah, the good old days.
