Well I get asked all the time: "Ricky; who are you playing steel guitar with these days" as I've left the Dale Watson band years ago.
I'm playing steel guitar with the love of my life; Leslie Sloan> aka Miss Leslie & Her JukeJointers>
www.missleslie.com
It's a compact classic country sound; Drums; upright Bass; steel and Leslie on fiddle.
Here's a sample of what we do from a live video at Luckenbach, Texas; someone recorded with a hand held....ha....(excuse the couple flubbs as it was the first song of the night...ha..)
Yes Maam on YouTube
Enjoy.

well, I'VE seen this band and i think it's fantastic. the overall sound is so pleasing to the ear, with it's tone, volume and balance. Miss Leslie really sings every song like she means it, the passion she puts into her performance is infectious. and my brother Ricky, your playing is just on fire these days. i love hearing you in this context.

Sounds pretty dang sweet there Ricky. It's rare to see a band kickin butt with just steel, bass and drums, You need to break in my Sho-bud on one of those tunes. Cool

Yes Andy; I always take a steel that I worked on; out to the battle grounds as that is the true test; and waaaaaaay looking forward to testing yours out when done(thanks for your patience; again).
Dave; thanks again for playing on the new CD to come out....all the guitar stuff you did is just freakin' awesome....wait till you hear it.

Lou Rochelle's son is here in Florida visiting and Lou and son came over to our weekly jam yesterday. Lou's son sang his daddy's song "Still A Lot Of Love In San Antone".

There's still some "good" country in places other than Texas.

Thank you Ricky, I really enjoy this type of music; and always enjoy listening to you. I think that the young lady is great on fiddle and has a great voice. In the days of yore I'd like to be sitting in the audience with the crowd.

Hi Ricky and Miss Leslie. Now that is what I call genuine kick a$$ country music. The steel was great and Miss leslie, as usual, is awesome. Hopefully ya'll can come to one of our steel guitar club meetings again and give us another big lift. Love ya'll and I will see you down the road. Jody.

I ran into Leslie Satuday at the Continental Club (Austin) and we chatted and laughed at Scott when I told him his drum logo was crooked. I wanted to give him something to obsess about for the next three hours or so.
Anyway, she was sweet and when I asked where you were, she said you were at home working on steels. You're not the party animal you used to be Smile

Ricky,

Good to hear from you--and you sound as great as ever. What's your setup now, guitar to amp?

Fabulous pickin'! This is great country music! Most people don't even notice the flubs anyway. Is that Ric Ramirez on Bass?

Hey thanks for all the kind words....Leslie is reading this also...and digs the supportive words.
That IS Ric Ramirez on Upright bass....he plays all our gigs.
That set up for me....is
1973 Sho~bud LDG
A tuner; a shobud volume pedal and a blackfaced twin and a JBL K-130 and a little reverb on the amp.

The song she is singing sounds exactly like one of Lou Rochelle's that I've done backing him, except the words were changed for a female singer.

Is that the Lou Rochelle song that Justin Trevino cut?

I find it interesting that all the instruments, except the drums, (and that includes the vocals) are fretless.
