Charles, Jim Bob is old and senile now so he might not remember who it was.......LOL Anyhow, as he'll tell you (if he can remember) it was (is) Johnny Davis, a monster picker who lived in the SoCal area for many years and who himself was also just about as good a steel player as he was a guitarist. Johnny's living in Arizona now and plays the show they have there. On that video you can tell that Curley also appreciated Johnny's playing from some of the looks and smiles he gave him!
Also, Jim Bob on bass on the video could just as well have held down the lead guitar seat at that gig. He was one of SoCal's best lead guitarists when I was living out there!....JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Thanks Jerry,I bought that vidio years ago when it was for sale in the ols SGW mag,put it on DVD myself long ago,I still pull it out and watch it sometimes and still enjoy it.What is so good about it is you can tell Curley[and the other guys]were cutting loose and playing what they wanted to,not having having some producer in a studio trying to tell them what to play,DYKBC _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer.
