I'll be in Addison, Texas all next week where my wife will be taking a class. I'd like to hear some steel while I'm there, maybe visit a steel shop. Plus some good Texas food. Any suggestions?

Howard,

There are tons of restaurants in the Addison area. Just about anything that you could want. That includes Tex-Mex and some great bbq places as well.

You have a choice of visiting
Carter Guitars
GFI Guitars
MSA Guitars
or set up a visit with Gary Carpenter of Rains

Contact them before you go so they can take the time to show you around.

Lots of choices there.

I am not up to date on the evening entertainment and I will leave that to one of the other guys.

Regards,

Mark T.

Addison has just about every kind of restaurant you could ever want to eat at all located along Beltline Road.

As for clubs near you there is:

Ranch House Club, HWY 78 Sachse TX. Bands play Fri-Sat

W W Fairfields Club, Richardson TX on the corner of BeltLine Road and Plano Road next to Albertsons. (not sure who will be there but many bands have steel who play there Thursday Friday and Saturday)

Post Time Club Dallas TX I30 and Buckner Blvd (on Buckner North Side of I30 directly behind Toyota Dealership. They have a band Tues Thurs Fri and Sat Most of the bands have steel players.

Cowboys Red River, Farmers Branch TX 10310 W.Technology Blvd. (Junior Knight plays in house band) I think they play Wed through Sat.

The Silver Saloon in Terrell TX near intersection of I20 and HWY 34 (South Side of freeway) has a house band with Joan Cox on Steel Friday and Saturdays but this would be around 50 minutes from Addison.

In Fort Worth:

Two big clubs to see are:

Pearls in the Fort Worth Stockyards which is the Mecca of steel players.

The Finish Line Club (another Steel Hotspot) which is west of Fort Worth on I20 at the Linkcrest Exit.
This would be about a 1.5 hour drive from Addison

That should give you some ideas.

Correction: I will not be at the Ranch House next week as I previously stated.

Thank's so much for the info. Sounds like it's gonna be a busy week, and I'll probably put on a few pounds.

The Johnny High Show is very good, fine band and Reece is great. And Junior Knight and Joannie Cox are two of my favorites. I'm gonna print this thread and take it with me. Thanks again folks.
