It's time to fly my Dobro and I need to know what you guy's would recommend. Flying with just the usual case would not do obviously so if someone could suggest a case maker or a specific kind of case to use I would appreciate your help.

Thank you much.

Doug

I researched flight cases for my dobro a while back. All roads led to Calton. It costs real money and you may need to wait a bit but you won't need to worry about your dobro anymore. Well worth it.

Hey Doug, how often are you going to fly, how valuable is your instrument, and do you have a ballpark budget for this flight case?

A couple of the guys mention Calton, and of course they are right about the quality - but I believe they start at around $800.

I attended the Healdsburg Guitar Festival out here a few months ago, and saw a demonstration from the owner of this company: www.casextreme.com

There are demo videos on the website. He stood on top of the case, jumped up and down on it a couple of times, opened it, and took out a gig bag which contained a $5,000 Froggy Bottom Guitars flattop, which never felt the effects of his demo. We're talking around $200 for the case.

Not quite that expensive. I bought one from Showcase recently for $600.

Where is Showcase?

I googled it, and came up empty handed.

Get Vic Lawson to build you one. He built my ped steel flight case w/wheels and recessed twist latches, and its bomb proof. I plan on having him build me a dobro case as well. My ped steel case was about 450$
