Selling my Dual Showman H
ead, I'm not using it anymore, works great, breaks up a bit like all tube amps. I have't changed a tube or done a thing to it in 15 years, Non-Master volume, NO PUSH /PULL control, just the real deal straight head circuit. Still has the original RCA tubes.Basically a Twin Reverb without needing back surgery !!!4 Ohm load. Asking $600.00 shipping included in the lower 48. These are getting hard to find.... Pay Pal OK.... Thanks Bob |

OK guys, maybe I'm out of order but.... I respect that your gona try to chop me on the price, but lets be realistic, when you are buying a 37 year old tube amp, it would probably be a good idea to have it serviced, I KNOW that, but I'm not putting the money into it. the amp is dead quiet!! So Stop with the "I have to re- tube it and it "needs a recap " routine, the amp works fine, if it didn't I would state it... it could probably use new tubes, for goodness sake wouldn't you need a drink of water afer 35 years... These amps are near impossible to find ,and one of the premier amps for steel. I have just found my ideal set up and guitar so I'm not using it anymore... so if your serious lets talk, but don't start the chop routine right off the bat..I've priced it a fair market value , look in the vintage guitar guide they go to $750.00 and most look like they were hit by a train... so if you want to make a respectable offer do so, Thanks |

It's a good price for one of the best steel amps ever made. As is. It's usually not worthwhile for a seller to pay for retubing and recapping an amp that works fine as is. It could add $200-$300, but if he added that to his base price, everyone would consider it overpriced. A buyer might be able to get it done for less, or might be able to do it themselves. Someone who wants that Fender tube tone in a portable head should go for this. Good luck, Bob. |

Agreed. That's a steal at $600 for perhaps the best steel guitar amp head ever. I doesn't really get much better than this head here.

Bob,
You are not out of order, you are in perfect order, and you stated your position quite well.
I plan to copy and use it next time I sell an amp.
Thanks,

Lemme tell you - I wouldn't sell my '69 Dual Showman Reverb head for $600 including shipping, and it isn't in as good cosmetic shape as Bob's. But it sounds great for steel, and is the gold standard by which I measure any other amp for clean jazz guitar sounds.
To me, these heads are the best of what a Twin Reverb has to offer without breaking my back. And the '68-71 silverface version without master volume is absolutely my favorite. Clean-sounding but sweet.
Just for information - last year's vintage guitar price guide put the head-only '68-'72 version at $750-825 in excellent condition. Most of the ones I see out there are beat, but they still ask plenty. The book puts '68-72 Twin Reverbs a couple hundred more, but I'd much rather have the head-only version.
All my opinions, of course. |

I made a living a lot of years playing guitar AND electric bass through an amp like that! |

Bob, put me next in line if Dave Ristrim doesn't take it. I'll take it even if the transformers ARE rusty! I'll e-mail you, too.
Thanks.

what everybody is saying is the twin is the best amp built for steel then, since thats basically what it is.
I wouldn't disagree.

I don,t know Bob but I know amps. This is a 1000 dollor amp.It is the best steel amp in my opinion but also the bset guitar amp. There is a way to run from one channel to the other and gain more headroom and more control over the reverb settings, the lead channel controls become reverb controls. It only take one short chord with a phone jack and rca jack.I feel these amps are becoming a peice of history. Thanks for listening, maybe this should be moved to the rant and rave section. lakeshrk |
