Hello folks,

I am going to the music trade fair (Musikmesse) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, which is taking place between 29 March - 1 April. (My brother - a top percussionist and drum builder - will be there, so my wife and I decided to join him).

Does anyone know if any lap steel builders/manufacturers will be showing their instruments at the trade fair? What about the German "Manzanita" Weissenborns? I'd love to try one of those! (David Lindley labels it "the best Weissenborn" or similar).

And resos - will Beard and/or Scheerhorn be there?

Are any of you builders here on the forum going to the trade fair, or is the European steel market too small to make it worth your while?

Anyway, I hope to see/try some lap steels there. Will keep my eyes open, and report here if I get to try that Manzanita Weissenborn. Has anyone here played one?

Have a nice day!

Fred

Try the search engine at the Musikmesse web site. You might try asking the folks at Manzanita directly rather than asking on this forum. Good luck on your trip - I'm sure it will be lots of fun!

Thanks Brad! I e-mailed Manfred at Manzanita, and unfortunately he will not be at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, as he hasn't got any finished guitars to display.

In most cases customers don’t even leave me enough time to take pictures of the finished guitar.

His Weissenborns and Weissenborn/reso hybrids retail for about 2,800 Euros. I would very much like to hear what they sound like!
