Hello Guys, anybody know where I might find a sound clip of a BMI steel. Can't find anything anywhere.
Thanks in advance.

Chuck,
Here is a Youtube link of Zane King at the 1991 ISGC. As far as I know he plays nothing but BMI.

By the way I also have a BMI and it has a great sound although, sad to say, I can't play like Zane.

Hello Jim, what model BMI do you play. What is your set up? I can't help but wonder why BMI seems to be much cheaper than most other pro manufacturers.
Thank you for the link, I'll give a listen.

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for asking about my BMI. I don't know why they are cheaper either, but they are definitely a pro guitar and sounds great. The model I have is an SD10 Custom. It's a single 10 4/5 with about a 1/2 neck wide pad. I play the Day setup. It was set up Emmons when I got it and I changed it to Day myself. I am NOT a steel mechanic but it was not hard to work on. Here is my setup. Standard E9th tuning.

Pedal 1 raises string 4 to F# and string 5 to C#

Pedal 2 raises strings 3 and 6 to A

Pedal 3 raises stings 5 and 10 to C#

Pedal 4 lowers strings 3 and 6 to G

LKL lowers strings 4 and 8 to Eb

LKV lowers strings 5 and 10 to Bb

LKR raises strings 4 and 8 to F

RKL raises strings 1 and 7 to G#

RKR lowers string 2 to D and string 9 to Db

Hope this helps.

I have been playing a BMI ever since Zane started building them. I have a 1981 that Zane built for me and I have never done anyghing to it. It still plays great and sounds great. I play his tuning.
