As I woke up this morning, I was lying in bed and thinking about several different things I had experienced over this past year. I remembered how well my buddy Jim Cohen played at the St. Louis International Steel Convention. Jim absolutely smoked that Fessy when he played on the Sunday afternoon portion of the show. I particularly like his British Invasion tribute with the Holly's instrumental "Bus Stop". Fantastic job my friend. In my opinion, Jim has an extreme talent for playing Steel Guitar. His great execution, and big fat chords on the C neck make it a real pleasure to listen to, especialy if you're a steel guitar fanatic like me.
Jimbeaux, I hope you didn't mind me pubicly bragging about you a little bit, but I thought this was a well deserved recognition that was long overdue. Happy Holidays Jimbeaux and to everyone.

Yes, Jim is an extremely talented steel player, but it doesn't end there.

I don't know where he gets all the time to do what he does.

The other thing is that he is an extremely nice person and very thoughtful.

Enjoy your Holidays Jimbeaux.

Your friend, Craig

I have three of his CDs, and his son is on at least one of them. And I agree with every thing that's been said about him (only the good stuff). I'm probably his number one fan.

Jimbeaux's contribution to steel guitar cannot be measured!

Nick,
I agree. His Home, James album is one of my favorites in my collection. Probably because I am a product of the '60s also. Anyone that doesn't have this album needs it. His son is a great sax player too. (Also on the album if memory serves).
I had the chance to talk with Jim a few minutes while we were congregating for the Forum picture this past September at the ISGC. He is a very cordial fella as well as very talented. Thank you Jim for all you do on the Forum and all your music. And thank you Nick for calling our attention to it.

Jim is a fine player and a nice guy. I always enjoy talking with him at the various steel shows. He comes up with great ideas for new tunes for the steel guitar.

I have had the pleasure of working some of the same shows jim has done in New England. as M C I was handed the pleasure of introducing him for his playing portion about 6-7 years ago I believe. I did not have much bio info on him to give him the intoduction he probably should have been given.. After listening to him play his set I would never be lacking the words to say about him..I loved how he took on songs that no one had attempted and showed his music isn't limited to just one genre..I have 3 of his CDs and play them..."thats the waiter survive" Wink

What a lovely Christmas surprise to wake up and read this thread! Embarassed It is very gratifying to know that one's artistic output is appreciated by others. Thank you all for your kind words. They mean a lot to me.

I hope you all had a great Christmas, Hannukah, or other holiday. As for me, you've just given me one of the nicest gifts I could imagine.

Best wishes to you all,

Jimbeaux

Couldn't agree more with all of the nice things folks said about you, Jimbeaux. The only thing that concerns me a little is the part where Nick woke up and was lying in bed thinking about you! Smile

Nor can mine! Although for entirely different reasons. Laughing

I always look forward to hearing Jim play. In fact, he's the main reason I ventured into the Saturday morning Jazz Show at Scotty's. Jim and all the players tore it up for several hours. That was a new experience for me and I enjoyed it completely.

Oh yeah? Yuh think he's such a great guy? Try livin' in the same town as him. There are only a few steelers here in the country's 5th largest metro area. Jim's one of the only ones many people here have ever heard. And they think that's normal steel playing, and any steeler should be able to do that! Sad

Well, anyway, it's still a pleasure to be able to hear him live in a small club every now and then. Happy holidays, Jim. Smile
