Just for your listening "abusement" I put a demo of a nice playing non-pedal D-10 Excel "Jerry Byrd" guitar on youtube. Adventures in Paridise is the tune I think, or how I remember it from my youth anyway.
Merry Christmas to all you great players and wonderful friends.
I owe you all a lot!

Beautiful and inspiring!
May I ask how you tuned, and approximate string gauges?

Thanks for posting that Bobbe and hope you are
having a Merry Christmas.
I have a friend who has a JB D8 Excel and it is a fine playing guitar.
All the best in the New Year.

I thank you all for the nice comments, and the tuning is just a plain ole' C6th, no tricks. This is all I ever use on non-pedal steel. I start on top with an "E", then C A G E C A F. This is just like the standard "Pedal set up" for pedal C6th, but just the center eight strings.

Ask me if I love non-pedal steel guitar, DO I EVER! I'd be happy to have to play non_pedal for the rest of my life, but I gotta' make a living,

A great performance Bobbe, I really enjoyed it. It was nice to hear the Excel played so well. It has a very unique tone.
