I've always wanted to see a "white" Sho~Bud. Are there any out there? White fretboards would be nice on it? Just a thought. Would really freak out over a white super~pro w/ aluminum necks and white boards!!! WOW!!!!!! "EYE CANDY" !!!!

Seems to me that Chris Ivey had one waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. But, even if I'm recalling that correctly, I don't know if it was a factory color. |

Barbara Mandrell had a white, 14 string Sho~Bud built for her when Julian Thorpe was in her band. Someone from Texas made an inquiry on the Forum three or four years ago about this guitar as he had a chance to buy it. Also there was a white Sho~Bud pictured on an early Sho~Bud brochure. Yes she did that as well. It depended upon what the steel player at the time was playing as she would set in on that guitar during her show. Regards, Jay Thompson |

As I recall there are many white Emmons & MSA guitars from back in the 70's.(mica) But can't ever remember a white Bud. I do know Joe Savage bought a Creme colored Super Pro from Dave Ristum a couple of years ago here on the forum. But that one was refinished by Bobbe S. I think? Maybe Bobbe S. or Ricky D. can shed some light on this one?

I remember seeing Rusty Young in an old Sho-Bud add with a white guitar. _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5... Bobbe had that white ProIII for sale a while back. I thought about buying it for a minute or two, but I would'nt know anything about whether or not that's the original finish. I kinda doubt it. |

When I worked for Bobbe a while back at his old store in Goodlettsville that guitar was in the process of being restored, the original finish was natural.
While it is not the original finish, it can be considered all "Bud", as the new finish was applied by A.J. Nelson, the same Sho~Bud employee that did all of the finishes at the factory. That resto was one of Bobbes finer efforts.
A.J. is a master craftsman. Billy Robinson had me restore his 9 string "SLYDE" lap steel about 5 or 6 years ago (the guitar was built by the late Bill Merrit years back, another of Shots employees), I had A.J. apply the new finish. Billy was, and still is knocked out by the work A.J. did.
That was the last restoration I ever did, a job for a H.O.F.er, talk about quitting when you are still on top!
A little trivia for you Bud lovers, that Sho~Bud logo is Billys artwork. _________________ John Drury

Maybe when you eventually reach the Pearly Gates, as all good steel players do, they hand you a pure white Sho-Bud with ivory white pedals, and you play yourself off into the clouds for eternity.
...beats a harp, any day. |
