Thanks to all for making this gathering a success. Special thanks as follows:
--Tom Anderson for bringing deli sandwiches, springrolls, and the fixin's.
--Bruce Zumsteg for taking some time off from building steels to run his band-a-box tracks for the group. Great job.
--Tommy Helms for bringing his PA system. Thanks for lugging all that equipment!
--Roger Hurst for bringing a cooler full of soft drinks, plus his wife's homemade brownies. Also helping to plan.
--Also our special out of town guests who traveled to be with us today including Austin Stewart, Jerry Newberry, Hank Ruf and their families. Also thanks to the folks who dropped in to say hi and watch some of the show.
-- and last but not least-- the Steel Guitar Forum, that helped us find each other and link our communications in planning this and similar events.
and now for the pics

We wanted to say thanks to the KC club for making us feel so welcome yesterday. We really had a lot of fun and enjoyed meeting the new folks and visiting with some we already knew. We hope to get to attend again some time.

Damn! I should have taken my KC trip this month instead of September.
Looks like the jam was a success.
Did Roger's guitar go through a "drop test" again? |

It was a humbling experience to say the least, but I had a great time. Learning to play steel reminds me of just how much I enjoyed playing guitar as a teenage. I only regret that I have waited so many years before attempting to learn pedal steel guitar. Also, I wish I could get my grandson more inspired to pursue it.
I want to thank everyone for what they did to make it a great day for me, and to have the opportunity to be with friends who enjoy music just as much as I do. |

Great pictures Colm!.... and great job of putting the jam together for everyone.
It was a real treat to hear Bruce Zumsteg with his incredible tone, Austin with his lightning fast licks, along with Jerry Newberry and Hank Ruf who always play with great tone and taste.
Thanks to all who traveled in from out of town and especially everyone who contributed to the success of our 3rd event. Looking forward to the next one in January.
And no Stoner, I didn't drop my Emmons off the 2-wheeler this time but I did leave my brains at home! |

Just for the record I am the guy on the left not the right. It would be a terrible thing for folks to think Danni looked like that. |

Kenny, I've always had a terrible problem remembering left from right, I have to stop and think about it then still get it wrong!
Also just got Bobbe Seymour's tips email this morning.

Fri 11/23/2007 Bobbe's Tips
The steel guitarist this week is Bruce Zumsteg. Most people don’t realize what kind of a steel guitarist this famous guitar builder is. However, if you only him tune a steel guitar you’ll realize there’s something special in his hands. Not only one of the nicer builders and players in the world, he also has a pretty good professional history throughout the midwest. Bruce subbed on the road with Ray Price a few years ago and was offered the job on a permanent basis, but being a couple years behind on delivering his custom steel guitar that he builds and offers to steel guitar players the world over, he decided his future was in building, not playing.
Bruce stays in close touch with myself and always comes to my store when he is in the Nashville area. It’s always wonderful to hear what he’s doing and what new ideas his brilliant, fertile mind is coming up with. His quality of workmanship knows no ends. One of my favorite people. I wish him the best.

How appropriate naming Bruce as player of the week!
Another shot of the master at work!
