The thread in the humor forum on worst album covers got me thinking about the best. Here's my all-time favorite:

I guess some qualify as both the best and the worst... the eye of the beholder.

"A pink house seated in the sun of Overlook Mountain in West Saugerties, New York. Big Pink bore this music and these songs along its way. It's the first witness of this album that's been thought and composed right there inside its walls."

The songs that came from that nondescript pink house back in '67 & '68 have been a lasting influence on my musical life over the years. Smile

I don't have a picture of it but one of my favorite album covers of all time would have to go to Linda Ronstadt's "Silk Purse"..... It featured a picture of Linda in cutoffs (Daisy Mae outfit) and sort of resembeling Moonbeam McSwine in the old L'il Abner cartoon strip complete with pigs in the pen. I was in total love with her at that time as she was the hottest thing on the planet and looked so sexy in that cover. (front & back)..........JH in Va.

You're right CrowBear. As I recall that was really a good album too. It's been a long time since I heard it.

Here's another.

It wasn't until years later that I realized this was a parody of an Elvis cover. Ah, the ignorance of youth! Smile

keeping it steel-centric, there is this really cool cover for a lloyd green record called "cool steel man" where he's got his steel setup on some rocks in the middle of this river with hot chicks all around him. i could only find really small photoos and dont own the album (tho I'd love to for the cover alone)

This album cover reveals the glamorous rugged playboy like lifestyle of your average pedal steel guitar player. How could you NOT wanna play steel after seein this cover? I picture myself in that shot saying to Mr. Green..."hey Lloyd, lets run up on those rocks and make love to one of those babes!"....Lloyd says..."no son, lets Walk up on those rocks and make love to ALL of those babes"

I've got that album cover. (I found it in an antique store record bin without the disc inside). I do have the album on CD along with "Mr. Nashville Sound". I borrowed them from my band's steel player and copied them onto CD. They were my introduction to Lloyd several years ago and I've been hooked ever since. My "cool steel man" sleeve has something special on the back: Lloyd's signature! I went up and got his autograph after hearing him play for 3 hours straight at Russ Hicks fish fry. I brought the album along just in case he was there. I had no idea he would be playing that day. Boy, was I in for a treat!
