"The Fraternity Of Man" was the name of the band.

I had the pleasure of sitting in with Little Feat this summer, and they use that song in a medley with "Willin". They called it the "Jamaica National Anthem"

Doing a Google on the "Fraternity Of Man" indicates a lot of Feat members in that band.. so that explains why they include it

Little Feat still kicks butt and has a really good following, they still do all their old stuff (very well) and some new stuff too. All the original members are still there - except Lowell George... old stuff is GOOD stuff (if you ask me)

Okay, Dyke. More info about sitting in with the Feat, please. Or via e-mail if you prefer.

I admit to being jealous of sitting in with one of the groovin'-est rhythm sections on the planet.

I think it was May of 1979. Three Mile Island happened. But what really shocked me was waking up one morning to find that we had lost Lowell George.
Gone but not Forgotten... What a set of pipes....

Jeff I am lucky because the band I'm in now (the Boatdrunks) has an album on Little Feat's label Hot Tomatoe Records Both Billy Payne and Paul Barrere played on our last album. We have been lucky enough to spend a week with Feat at a resort in Jamaica for their "Feat Fan Excursion" where we got to do some jamming with members. Billy Payne usually sits in with us when we open, and they often ask members of our band to sit in with them, it's a blast!

Thanks for the pic, Dyke. That has got to be an awesome experience. I was with a group that opened for them in '76 or so and we spent some time in the hotel with Lowell and Paul. Ahem. Remind me to tell you that story some time. Wink But didn't get to pick with them. That would be high on my list.

I think I've still got the 45 (you know what that is, right?). It was on the ABC "Terrible Tunes" label. Honest.

Little Feat was HUGE in DC, beginning around "Dixie Chicks" ('72? '73?). I was setting up chairs during their soundcheck around that time at a Homecoming concert (they opened for Bonnie Raitt and Paul Butterfield) & got a quizzical look from Lowell George when I hollered out "Fat Man in the Bathtub!"
His blonde/ash Strat is right there on display at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
