As many have seen in "Gone Home"......Red Kilby recently passed away......

Red was true friend to non pedal steel guitar......he was the late Rick Alexander's favorite singer and continued to be a favorite of Jeff & myself, always putting together a great all star show at The Rick Alexander Non Pedal Sessions in Dallas......

You couldn't find a more upbeat and friendlier guy who loved to sing a variety of tunes & styles.....loved to entertain.....loved to bring people together......and loved to showcase new & not so new talent.....

He is already greatly missed and will certainly be missed at next year's show......well, Red & Rick are together now.....perhaps sharing a beer, smiling, and hoping that the rest of us will carry on the tradition.....

I always enjoyed seeing Red at conventions, and chatting with him on the phone. He was a great guy, always willing to help and support steel guitar in all facets.

One year, Rick and I discovered a flat tire on Rick's van as we were about to leave Dallas for home. Red jumped right in without hesitation helped changed the tire for us...basically doing it all himself.

His passing is a shock...he was only two years older than me. But like you say Howard, he and Rick and having a jam now with all the steel guitar greats who have also passed on.

Red will be missed by all. The conventions just won't be the same without him. But I guess Heaven needed him more.

Rest in Peace, Red.. Crying or Very sad

Hi Guys,
You're right. Red was a fan and friend of the steel guitar, just like Rick A. I sure do miss both of them.

It's hard to believe that it was only a few months ago that Red found out about his illness. He will be missed by many, myself included.
