Just got word today 11/18/07 from " Joe Baker " that he got word from " Al Brown " that our good friend Musician Bass Guitarist/Singer-Songwriter " Billy G.Smith " passed away in Victorville,Ca.on 11/1/07. Also that his Ex-Wife took care of everything & Billy was CREMATED. Billy & I (Leo) have played together with our late bandleader "Jack Tucker & The Oklahoma Play Boys " at the Pioneer Room in Norwalk,Ca.& with our late friend " Lee Ross " who wrote " My Shoes Keep Walking Back To You " all over Southern Cal. Billy was & is a dear friend of mind. God Bless you brother Billy & RIP. Leo J.Eiffert,Jr.

Hey Leo, I'm really sad to hear about Billy's passing! I hadn't seen him since the Hank Cochram benefit at the DJ Ranch in '84 or '85. He did a set with Bruno on guitar and me on steel and maybe Jerry Ranney or you on drums. It's on the video of that show which Al Parrett made. He did a version of "Workin' Man Blues" and then went into an up tempo thing of Frizzell's "Always Late" which just knocked me out. What was the cause of his death? Being an "old" dude like us, it was probably something cardiac related...........JH in Va.
