I've had this set for years and have never run across another Supro WITH a matching volume pedal... and I've looked.

I'd give a lot to have one of those that matches my D6

I have bought and sold three of those MOTS Supro/National volume pedals in the past ten years or so. One was yellow and the other two were gray. Those pedals are very rare. I don't think many were made. They are nice collectables, but I wouldn’t take one out on a gig! Winking The cloth coated output cord (probably unshielded) is hard wired to the pedal, and the cord is often frayed and cracked. The pedal works kind of choppy in my opinion, but it’s a great companion piece for a MOTS lap steel.

Having an attached cord to a volume pedal is a pain anyway. I still have a DeArmond that had an attached cord, but I removed the cord and put another jack in it. It eats pots, by the way, so I don't use it much.

The cloth covered cord was common on Valco stuff. They were used on New Yorkers, with the Amphenol screw-on connectors. Mine had one when it as new.

I could be coaxed out of the set... Very Happy

Doug,
You are the only person I've come across who's even SEEN, let alone had those pedals. Mine is noisy, but it's not used. I use a regular old EB when I've played the steel in the past. The pots on the steel, on the other hand, sound pretty good & the pickup is to die for!

I've been "horse-trading" vintage guitars and amps for years, which is how I happened to run across three of these MOTS pedals. One was a Supro and the other two were National. They are cool looking, historical pedals, but IMHO they are too noisy, clunky, and unreliable for bandstand use.

I agree about the string-through Valco pickups. The tone is killer through a small tube amp. I love the sound of my English Electronics Valco lap steel. I installed a set of Rick's Nibro magnets and it really cranks. Much hotter than my stringmaster, in my opinion. I think the long scale has a lot to do with the great tone.

I sure agree about the long scale tone. I haven't built a long scale yet, but it keeps nagging at me! Very Happy
