I just got home from Nashville after attending the visitation & funeral for John Hughey, And I am still in disbelief that he is gone, I have never attended an event such as this with as much emotion! there were a few thousand attendee's at the visitations, and almost as many at the funeral the The Church where the funeral was conducted was huge and standing room only! Several of John's friends spoke and told some stories some sad and some funny, some made you cry and some made you laugh, It was for sure a celebration of John's life,I am one who feels fortunate to have known John Hughey, and could call him my friend I loved him and Jean so very much, and I ask you all to keep Jean and Cheryl Ann & Beany & the rest of Johns family in your prayers, Jean is going to feel lost for a long time and needs our support. Robert, I'm so glad you got to go. I wanted to so bad but just couldn't. I'm still in shock,When my Mom and my dad and my oldest Brother passed away I became sick. Finally I went to the doctor. I was told it was greiving sickness. I've been sick ever since I heard about John.
I got to spend time with John in Benton ILL and in St louis this year. Each time was great, he even remembered my name in St Louis. What I'm getting at is I've spent time with John twice and I feel like I've lost a family member. What a impact for some one to have on another.

I agree with Robert. The funeral was a mix of sadness and joy. John was a great man. It was really neat to hear some of the stories of his life from the speakers like Vince Gill and the others. John made a great impact on all he met. I was one of them. Blessings, ALbert

I am so glad I got home in time to be there. It was so special... the stories, the tears, the laughter... the standing ovation... it was a perfect tribute.

John would have been proud to know that so many people loved and respected him. Mitzi and I would not have missed being with him for the last time. It was truly a great celebration of John's life . We love John and Jean like a brother and sister and pray that the Lord will help Jean and the family through this trying time.We ask that everyone join with us and pray for them. Love, Buck & Mitzi Grantham
