If I wanted to cut a two or three song demo
in Nashville for my own pleasure, at my own expense, who should I contact?
What is the going rate for a studio with a four piece session band?

Hi Uwe,
Forum member Mike Headrick has a nice studio about an hour outside of Nashville. He'll set you up with a complete package at a good price. Contact him at steelfodder@aol.com.

Michael,
Thanks for the advice.
I know Mike to be a very honest and
helpful person. He sold me my Nashville 1000
at a fair price - a really great deal.

Dennis Paine, and Jim Unger have a nice studio in Nashville. Smiley Roberts would have the location etc. I'm sure.

Just stay away from the "Big Business" studios. They will only take your hard earned money and leave you hanging. If they don't tie you up in a contract that you will never get out of, you will be lucky !!
I've seen many song-writers and artist that has gotton tangled up with the "Big-Suites" and are still paying for it.
Some of the above post said it best:
Go with Mike Headrige or Bobbe Seymour or one of the smaller studios for demo cuts. While you may or may not get the mega-cut demo or be the next Elvis, at least you won't get hung up and stranded for the next 5-10 years in a contract that keeps you from letting the world know just how much better you are than some of those "New-Country-Acts" that is so P##-poor the public is having to endure.
See the Frank Parrish post below.
(DID YOU KNOW THIS) (a must read to embellish on this thread.)
Just my thoughts.......

Back then (when Uwe asked) I only wanted to cut two songs as a 'once in a lifetime experience', just for fun! But you guys lead me to the BEST, with Mike Headrick.....so in February next year we are going back to finish my SECOND CD!!!! ...and the first one still gets lots of airplay all over the world, two years after the release! My latest single has been on TOP 20 on the ECMA charts for 12 weeks now....AND I found a co-writer who wants me to cut a THIRD CD with OUR songs with Mike! So talk about DREAMS COMING TRUE!
THANKS GUYS for your very helpful Forum...it sure made a difference for ME!...Which is also why I wrote a tribute song for you and this Forum (STEELERS OF THE WORLD). AND I'm trying to copy your concept with a "CLAN" (Forum) for Songwriters and Artists on Netlog. Please feel free to join, if you like! http://en.netlog.com/clan/CountrySongwriters
....and oh yeah...Uwe of course gets to buy another steelguitar! LoL _________________ Ulla
