This is one of my few attempts to record a song with some delay on the steel. The chain is MSA Legend, Goodrich 120 pot pedal, Guyatone MD-3, Boss RV-5, Fender Steel King mic'ed with a Shure SM-57.
The Boss drum machine is hand programmed including the triple snare drum hit that starts the guitar intro.
The progression on C6 starting at 1:59 is a change that Randy Beavers mentioned to us using pedal 6 and lowering the 4th string 1/2 tone. It starts at the 6th fret on strings 3,4,5 and 6. This is covered in one of my tab posts.
The ending (single string part 4:15 to 4:19) was taken from a lick that I heard Jim Murphy do at high speed in My Mother's Eye's and is also in my tab section.
My one week vacation is over so it's back to the salt mines on Monday. It's gonna be hard to work for a living again!
Hear Cold Cold Heart

I will be posting some tab for this soon. What part are you most interested in? It takes a few hours to write and post the tab for one verse.
The more I play both tunings and especially E9th, it's getting hard to not find almost any lick on either tuning. I'll be posting some real neat tab for E9th that makes one question the need for two necks. This is all confusing to me as the E9th positions are not committed to memory yet but they are there and sound pretty good if you're willing to use 3 finger picks. This instrument can really scramble your brain. Now I'm driving down the road and playing it in my head! Some of the E9th chords sound a little clearer than they do on C6. Maybe if this instrument got to one neck, even with the tradeoffs of 12 strings, more people could afford to carry it around. I certainly don't want to start up the one neck versus two wars but having an extended tuning for rhythm vamps and guitar licks without switching necks would be a big plus.

Steve,
No charge, let's make it a Christmas present for the forum and give me about 5 weeks! In fact, donate what you think it's worth to the forum.

Ron,
Just download the latest Windows Media Player for the Apple computer and it will play just fine. I have a lot of MAC user's listening.
Microsoft Windows Media Player Download Center
Just select your version of the software under the "Select Version" dropdown list.

Ken,
The steel player and the lead player are the same person as is the drummer and bass player. If the lead player gets too loud, I just have to kick myself and the lead gets turned down.

Ken,
The intro and 1st guitar part were played on a G&L Tribute ASAT Special into a Boss RV-5 set on hall and then into a Fender stock Hot Rod Deluxe mic'd with a Sennheiser e609. The last guitar part was a Fender Nashville Tele setup as above with the Keeley 4 knob compressor added to the mix and set on "quack" mode. I have a few other guitars but these two always record the best.
I've started work on the tab. Lot's of little nuances in it so it will take a while to make sure it's accurate!

Bernie,
I have a DSL user in Franklin, PA who can listen to my stuff so it's likely something with your computer. Download the lastest Windows Media Player and it should run ok.

Hi Greg:; Don't know what I did the first time with my DSL, but clicked it to-nite and on you came with one of my favorite songs of our departed Hank; You did a fantastic job, my man, and the musician on Lead Guitar can certainly carry his own; both of you are so precise and clean on your pickin' skills. One of the nicest versions I've had the pleasure of hearing. Greg, thanks for posting it for us; keep sending us renditions of great classical country music; you do it so well..Regards, Bernie _________________ 2007 Zum S-10; 1967 Sho-Bud [ D-10 ]; 85 S-10 Sierra; 1953 Multi-Kord [ 6 String- 4 pedals ] A Sho-Bro six String Resonator Guitar; Nashville 112 Amp; hilton Vol. Pedal |
