I just got my new 112 and was reading the posts about settings. I play a carter starter w/ a carter v/pedal.
my music room/office is about 7'x10' and my amp is to my right about 5' tilted up. (old habits) Am I expecting too much in expecting a miraculous change in tone and total sound? Is it the guitar,?v/pedal?room size? I just came off of my kids late model 35 watt Crate and other than power and a slight difference in tone; So far I hav'nt found the sweet spot I was hoping for. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
ps I normally hooked up my pedal: guitar /vol.in/ out/ high gain( 2 cable hook up). With the 112 I hooked it up as per owners manual.& how can I be sure What is out and return on my carter pedal? (rookies. what would you do without us?) |

Greg, I know you will enjoy your NV112 as soon as you get it tuned in. If you get rid of most of the MIDS it should help a lot. I have mine all the way off. SHIFT straight up to 800. LOWS in the +6to +8 maybe all the was up to 10 or so. LOW and PRESENCE anywhere from -4 or so to +4 or so. Just depends on the day and what I want to hear. IMO killing the mids is the key. Hope this helps a little. It is really a good amp. I have an Evans and a PV Session 400 and I keep going back to my NV112. Like I said my sweet spot varies day to day. _________________ Keep pickin', Larry |

Thanks Larry. I'm Sure that it's just a matter of dialing it in. It's the obvious choice for most. I have a bad habit. I need instant gratification. |

Greg,
What pedal are you using?
Got GeorgeL cords?
Try setting your amp flat on the floor directly behind you.
Pre somewhere lower than Master gain
A Hilton pedal straight into the hi input jack would make a difference!

Carter pedal. no george cords. I used to wire in straight from pedal to high gain, but tried the way the 112 book showed. I'll go back to straight and try it again.Thanx |

Thanks for the offer Mike. No-one would know better than you. I'll make another pass at it tonight. (no-one home for till 9:30. Loud!) and I may call you Tues. Or Weds. I'll wire straight from the pedal and start from the diagram in the book and go from there. Thanks Mike |

One good way to start your adventure is to plug your steel output directly into your amp. Eliminate any effects you use. Dial it in to suite your ear. If you can get a good sound, then check your other gear. Often some of your other things get in the way of the sound of the steel or amp. |

I recommend that you connect an instrument cable directly from your steel, straight into the amplifier input(using no volume pedal at all). Might as well start at "bare bones", then build from there. |

I missed the post about the no volume hookup but did go back to the guitar, vol. ped. high gain input hook up and it sounds a lot better to me now. Much better than the hook up shown in the back of the book. Mike; can you explain why the show this illustration? Thanks to all for your input. |

Greg, My settings for the Nashville 112 I had were>
Low + 6
Mid - 15
Shift 800
High - 3 to 6
presence - 3 to 6
These settings were after I put the Burr Brown chips in. Can't remember the exacts before the Burr Brown chips.

Here is an article about the "volume pedal patch" on Peavey Nashville Series amplifiers. If you need me to break this down to layman terms, give me a toll free call at the factory and I will be glad to do so. 1-877-732-8391, ext. 1180. Here's the link;

Hi Mike, thanks for your input on this subject, I'm useing a 112 and a Sierra Session 12 uni through a Black Box into the High gain and my volume pedal into the post patch , I think I am getting a very good sound this way, is there any reason I should use the pre EQ patch instead ? |

Well as usual i'm a stupid A#! I didn't have it hooked up right as per owners manual. I did figure it out after seeing Mikes diagram. Go figure. Oh and WOW!!!!
I guess hooking it up right does help! Thanks Mike! |

I'm glad that you tried it using the "pre eq patch". This method eliminates the need for an impedance matching device between the guitar output and the input of the amp. By connecting your guitar straight into the input on the amplifier, the tone is not altered via the pot volume pedal. Makes sense. |

I can't answer that one, so I would ask Goodrich about this. I don't have experience with that pedal. |
