Amazing!! That looked like Tex Ritter doing the intros. What ever became of Larry Collins?
I just spent 30 minutes watching Joe Maphis and Merle Travis videos.. what a lot we can learn from those dudes.
Joe was a great player. _________________ Bo Borland

Larry and Lorrie Collins still do shows as The Collins Kids, I've seen them around six, seven times. Usually they team up with Deke Dickerson's band ( which means two doubleneck Mosrites on stage ). Larry still plays the heck out of the guitar, to put it mildly, and with Deke, they do all those duet instros Larry used to do with Joe Maphis. If you search youtube you'll find clips of their recent shows from various rockabilly festivals. |

It not only looked like Tex Ritter, it was Tex Ritter.
Those clips were from "The Ranch Party with Tex Ritter", filmed on the stage of the "Town Hall Party" in Compton California.
I have about 7 hours of those shows on an old VHS tape that someone gave me about 25 years ago. |
