Before I hear zing! and put my eye out, is it possible to get a string tuned up to C above (normal guitar) high E ?
24.5" scale, BTW |

I bet an .008 would make it. Why don't you post a video of you trying it!

You'll put your eye out, kid.
I think that's the same scale as my Rickenbacker (electric/Spanish, not a lap steel), and the octave G is probably an .008, I hate tuning that one and waiting for the thing to break. |

The "Breaking Load" for 0.008" plain steel music (piano) wire ... i.e. guitar string ... is approx. 20 to 22 lbs of tension.
On a 24.5" scale instrument ...
A 0.008" string pulled to a 523 Hz "C" note ... would theoretically generate ... 24.14 lbs of tension.
Pop goes that Weasel ...

Just Curious. Why would you want to tune that high? That's where dogs howl and glass breaks. |

Maybe he's got a drunk dog with a highball glass in his paw and he wants to teach it a lesson. Did ya ever think of that?
I want a video too. With a Red Rider BB gun on the set to stay with the **you'll shoot your eye out, kid** theme. |

Wow, weasel parts! Dude, just put the goggles on and go for it already. And make a lo-fi sound clip with, like, a ton of delay on it? And then post it as "The Parting of the 'C'"...

Nothing is impossible to those who believe.
But he would have to do a lot of praying or believing.
How much?
I don't know.
But he certainly would have to believe in miracles, don't you think?

Gad! I never knew steelers were such a bloodthirsty bunch. Must be all the long nights in country bars...
Well, that 10-string tuning idea isnt likely to work it seems. I hate getting zinged by strings!
