The Saluda show was a lot of fun. Everyone played well and we had a good time of music and hanging out.

Russ Hicks had an elaborate setup. It consisted of a guitar, volume pedal, cords, and a Nashville 400...and he sounded like a million dollars! That convinced me where the tone comes from.

Some highlights were: Roger Crawford playing "I'll Sign the Papers". Chuck Campbell's set was great and Jim Hartley sang "The Only Girl I Can't Forget".

Not to leave anyone out, everyone played so well. It was a good time and good people. I'm glad I was there!

Another highlight, for what little time I was able to be there, was that fine fiddle! Rick, it's a pleasure to know you as a musician, a brother, and a friend!

Stephen,
Missed you on Saturday night!! Had to unload my guitars and amps ,all my by myself.(Hard on the ole man, going to get me a triangle or something to play).
I brought the Rickenbacker and played a few tunes in the merry-go-round.Don't care to much for that, rather play my tunes.
Terry help me load up,so wasn't to bad.

Rick I've always said the Saluda band is one of the best and your fiddle just puts the "cherry on the whipped cream". Sorry I couldn't be there Sat. but have to work to buy strings and gas. Hope to see you in Feb. if not sooner

Hey Friends,

Another Saluda show has come and gone, with alot of great music and alot of good friends. Rick, thanks for asking me to sing the old Del Reeves song. He didn't record it with a fiddle, but he said many times that he should have, and that's the way we did it on stage. (I wish his fiddle playin' was....well, never mind.)

As mentioned, there were many highlights. In addition to Ricks fiddle, wasn't it great to have Charles back to play a set. Way too many great moments to mention them all but for me it was special to have my brother there helping me with the drum duties. And it goes without saying, it is always a treat to work with Russ, at steel shows or the occasional road gig.

As it was mentioned in another post, February in Saluda will never be the same, but I know John would want us to enjoy as much as ever.

See ya soon,

Jim

I know that Saluda isn't in California, but I really haven't a clue otherwise. Please include the state in your topic titles. Thanks.

Sorry I din't make that clear. The Saluda we're talking about is in South Carolina. However, there is also a Saluda, North Carolina...which I pass through on my way to the show from Tennessee. Anyway, it was a good show. Thanks to all for the kind words.

b0b, Saluda is one of those one-word names, like Dolly, or Einstein, or Cher. Charles Reece and Buddy Walker put it on the map!

I sort of figured it was east of the Mississippi somewhere.

Well its a Shrine Club,40 miles West of Columbia,SC.
Located in Saluda county, 4 miles South of the town of Saluda. Folks come from all over to attend the show. One of the best backup bands around and some super Steel Guitar pickers at every show.
Charles Reece and the late Buddy Walker has done a great service to the Steelguitar community with this show.
