Here's a tune I recently wrote and recorded last night on my Superior Weissenborn-style guitar. It's called "Water is Sweet". Recorded on a Zoom-H4 and transfered to computer. No effects were added.

Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Bill:

I LOVE your tune! Great composition and played with wonderful tone throughout! Most impressive!

BTW, I lived in Aptos way back around 1989-1990; that's a really beautiful area you live in. I miss it!

All the best,
Rob Anderlik

Beautiful tune, and I love the "non-weissenbornish" way you play it! Wink Good recording too, you've captured the crispy sound of the Superior well. Keep 'em coming!

I agree with Steinar: nice and 'crispy' and no extra cheese. Smile

Very pretty song, Bill.

I noticed not a lot of 'slideyness' to your playing on that track--I've been trying to break myself of the habit of thinking EVERY note has to be slurred, hammered, vibratoed, etc. That's an excellent example for me.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement!

I'm surprised no one has asked me what the tuning is...

For the record, it's Csus2 - CGCGCD (low to high)

It's a beautiful tuning, and also works well for string pulls on the high string up to the third of the scale. Unfortunately, string pulls are difficult to execute on this particular guitar as the action isn't quite high enough.

That is indeed very sweet! A fitting title...

I agree with the comments about how "un-weissenbornish" it sounds ( just one slide at the end, nice touch!), really subtle & goes to show how impeccable your intonation is!

The tone is beautifully balanced, no EQ at all?(!)

BTW, how did you come by that tuning?

Hi Chris.

No EQ, just a little volume boost in Audacity.

Regarding the tuning, I believe it was either Martin Simpson or Bob Brozman that showed me that back at IGS in 1999.

Hi Bill,

You make that sound like a standard guitar!
I am very impressed with your tone and also
that of the guitar. The bass notes are very
alive and rich.
Thanks for sharing the tuning,,,it is worth
trying for sure.
I hope you do more of this.

Roy

Bill, right now I'm at your SoundClick page and listening to another composition, Macedonian Folk Song. I'm liking it so much I feel I should wear a fez and do my best Sydney Greenstreet impression...

Kudos for the graceful & flowing use of melody and space! Cool

(And for your restraint in staying away from that seductive sixth string.) Smile

Sometime, more from the Superior would be nice...
